Did you know that during a Chest Press, if you stabilize your shoulder blades into the surface that your back is against, be it a bench, the floor, or stability ball, it enables your chest muscles to be properly and fully engaged throughout the movement.
This is done by bringing your shoulders down, back, and pinching the shoulder blades together, while lifting your chest up as you press through all at the same time throughout the movement.
If you allow your shoulders to come off the surface and become rounded during the push phase, you are “cheating” and not fully targeting the chest muscles.
This little “nuance” will make all the difference!
